3 Vans and 1 couple in a cabin plus we have a Van with prospective members arrive. Thou Walla Sunset Retreat Caravan Park has only 12 powered sites which are wide. Magnificent pool, which I put my hand in.....Brrrrr...Freezing. Old but clean amenities, washing machine and dryer which are free. Open air Camp Kitchen with BBQ's in it.

​

      After setting up Marcella and I go for a walk to the Marina. BIG Boats - and lots of them. Water looks lovely.  At Happy Hour we introduce ourselves to the new arrivals  -  Jeanette and Don - we find out they use to belong to the Club about 10 years ago. Then about 4 Jets zoom very loudly overhead. Wonder if that happens every day.

      Tuesday we wake to light rain and overcast. Morning tea is in the Camp Kitchen where the Jets zoom overhead again. Guess it could be a daily occurrence. Susi arrives with her van - first time in a caravan park and it  starts to bucket down. Finally it eases and she is able to set up. We car pool to Shoal Bay and Aussie Bob for Fish and Chips. They are pricey but the servings are HUGE and very delicious. Sun is trying to come out. It rained all that night. Speaking to one of the workers who said it is the most rain they have had in a long time.

​

      We were thinking of taking the ferry to Tea Gardens today. Weather seems to be clearing and then we receive a shower. What to do ? Over Morning Tea a couple of them decide to stay at camp. It is $38 for the ferry which is a big increase from a few years ago. If was a brilliant sunshine day probably go. Ron suggests lunch at the Bowling Club instead which 6 decide to do. Club meals were OK and a bit pricy. Everything seems pricy up here. Happy Hour is in the Camp Kitchen as quite cool. It comes to our attention that one of our  members, who is staying in a cabin, carried his walker down the stairs and placed on the path. Next thing it is trundling down the path into the garden of next cabin. In his defense he is still getting use to it. Also no damage to property. 

​

      Thursday was drizzle again and we say Good Bye to Jeanette and Don - who liked us and have joined - now we are 8. Some of us visited friends today while others had a drive along the Foreshore Road. We have all holidayed here when our kids were smaller and good to see the places we stayed and visited. Later Happy Hour in the Camp Kitchen. A member starts pouring his and partners Ginger Beer into nice glasses. Next thing a scream.....It's leaking. It's leaking....Ginger Beer is pooling on the table. Ron lifts the glass and it's now going on the floor. I say " It's a concrete floor and not ours, so all good." Ron is disappointed "That is the first time we have used those glasses" he says. "Bought them from the $2.00 shop." Oh well Ron you will have to drink out of the bottle. Later that evening we are back at our vans when I hear a smoke alarm. Next thing Ron sends me a photo.....Cooking toast and the alarm went off....Lol. Not having a good arvo.

​

     The morning is overcast but blue sky trying to break through. So off to the Lighthouse and Cafe for morning tea. It is turning out a brilliant day. Sun out, water blue and a great look out. Most of us have scones with jam and cream. They are huge and warm plus absolutely delicious. We take a walk through the museum then up the stairs to the Marine Rescue Office where all the action is. They are great friendly guys and have a fabulous view. We thank them for keeping boaties safe. 

​

       I haven't been to Gan Gan Lookout yet so in the car and off I go. It starts to sprinkle then gets heavier and heavier. There is turn off for the Lookout, bugger still pouring, not today wouldn't be able to see a thing and would get drenched. So home it is. It continues all afternoon then the sun out,  then rain again. Still manage to have a walk along foreshore thjough. Happy Hour that night wasn't as cold. Ivan has suggest a Bacon and Egg Communal breakfast in the morning. Great idea.

​

      We all arrive in the Camp Kitchen around 8.30 am for a delicious Bacon and Egg Brekky. Good to eat together sometimes. Later in the day I visit the Recycle Centre. Large area and well catalogued. Didn't buy anything. We say good bye to Ron and Susanne just before Happy Hour. Now there is 6 of us.

​

      In the morning Ian and Marcella decide to leave today - Sunday. Marcella's hot water bottle has leaked and she has wet the bed......the water from the hot water bottle, that is. So now we are 4. Queiter Happy Hour in the Camp Kitchen. In the morning we pack up and say our good byes. Another great time away with friends. Due to the weather didn't do all the things we planned but did enjoy the company and relaxed feeling you have when away in our van or cabin.
